Our chair Philippa has a query for you. She has small buds/nodules on some jumbo garlic that she has planted.
Does anyone know what they are, and, if they can be replanted as seed garlic/new bulbs?
Have a look at the picture and let us know if you can help.
They are new garlic cloves. They can be pulled off and planted but will take at least two years to make a decent sized clove.

This maybe of some use.
I pulled the rest of the garlic up last week, due to above-mentioned mould fiend.
When I did I found that my white garlic had developed decent but not impressive heads, with a new and interesting feature – little nodules, or micro-cloves hanging off the side.
I’m guessing it is new baby cloves forming and getting ready to form a clump of garlic heads if I let it. And I would LOVE to let it, but the mould, it thwarts my plans.
Very mush the same as yours Philipa. Website https://notyournansvegiepatch.wordpress.com/tag/garlic/
Thanks all for your responses. If I have to wait 2 years, think I will just buy or use this year’s cloves.
Rob, That is an enjoyable link to read. I read few a few of his posts, made me smile.
Thanks.
